The Fancy Food show at the Jacob Javits Center in NYC was a palate tempting tour of foods and fun. Hours and hours of exploring exciting tastes and new foods! Here are some of our highlights:
Twin Hen’s Chicken Pot Pies - Made with free range chicken & organic veggies. Order one. Pop it in the oven. It is that simple, but everyone will think you slaved all day.
Pastry Kisses – Handmade, from scratch, appetizers. Available in savory, sweet and seasonal varieties. I tried the feta and caramelized onion. Your guests will be certain that the party was catered by a 5 star restaurant.
Maine Munchies – All natural fruit and nut mixes. I sampled the caviar of Maine (wild blueberries), nuts and dark chocolate. Now this is my idea of a snack!
Rick’s Picks - Delicious pickled varieties. Rick’s is not new to Food411, we discovered Rick's delicious offerings a while back. Beets, beans, peppers, onions, along with traditional cucumbers make exciting pickled products.
Erica’s Rugelach – Old fashion rugelach taste. Wow, these are good.
Nirmala's Kitchen Inc, - Very interesting spice, salt & rice blends. These blends are truly unique and will most certainly spice up your table.
Vere Chocolate (website not running yet – Sept. 2005)
Very delicious chocolate. I am a very fussy choco-holic and this one gets my thumbs up! All natural, low carb, low glycemic, high fiber, no sugar alcohols. I sampled the dark chocolate with seeds...very unique and wonderful taste.

Look’s Gourmet Food Co. - This is the first canned chowders, soups, bisques that actually taste like I was sitting on a dock in New England. The company is located on the docks in Maine and as soon as the lobsters are taken out of the water, they are made into bisques & chowders! Very good!

Lara Bar – 100% raw food bars, unlike any “power” bar I have ever tasted. In fact it would be a crime to call these power bars. Pure and simple made from unsweetened fruits, nuts, spices. Uncooked, unprocessed, no added sugars (gluten free, dairy free, vegan & kosher) I tried the cocoa mole - really wonderful.

We could list many more, and in fact, you will see Food411’s resources expand rapidly within the next few weeks as we add many of the excellent products that we uncovered at this show.
Thousands of vendors, this show (to the trade only) is a wonderful example of people making a business out of their true passion. If one thing emanated from each of these booths it was the enthusiasm from each vendor for their creations. A full day of food, we can’t think of a better way to spend a day...can you? |
